The short version.
Essential cookies are always on (they keep the site working). Analytics and marketing cookies are off by default until you explicitly opt in via the consent banner that appears on your first visit. You can change your choice any time by clearing your browser cookies for this site, or by emailing tyree@sundrop.uk.
Essential.
The website framework (Next.js) sets a small number of functional cookies to keep the site stable — things like remembering you’ve dismissed the cookie banner. These don’t track you and aren’t shared with anyone. They can’t be switched off because the site won’t work properly without them.
- sundrop:consent(localStorage, not technically a cookie) — stores your consent choice so we don’t keep asking. Lifetime: until you clear it.
Analytics — opt-in.
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site (which pages are popular, where visitors drop off, what marketing channels are working). Google sets a few cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_*) that last up to 2 years.
Google processes this data in the US under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can opt out at any time by changing your consent in the banner, by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by setting your browser to refuse all cookies.
Marketing — opt-in.
With your consent, we use Meta Pixel to measure how well our ads are working and to retarget visitors with relevant follow-ups. Meta sets cookies including _fbp(lifetime ~3 months) and may use related identifiers if you’re logged into Facebook or Instagram.
You can opt out via the consent banner or via Meta’s ad preferences.
Server-side analytics — no cookies.
We use Rybbit for privacy-friendly server-side analytics. It sets no cookies, stores no client-side identifiers, and doesn’t track you across sites. Under UK PECR it doesn’t require consent — but we’re mentioning it anyway so you know exactly what’s running.
How to manage cookies.
You have several options:
- Use the consent banner— click “Customise” on first visit, or clear your localStorage for this site to make it reappear.
- Browser controls — every modern browser lets you block, delete, or restrict cookies. See aboutcookies.org for instructions per browser.
- Email us at tyree@sundrop.uk if you want help.
Changes.
If we add new tools that use cookies, we’ll update this page and re-prompt for consent where required.
